When J2 is open, the drive runs as master drive. When closed, it acts as slave drive. In case of two drive connection, one should be a master and another should be a slave. In case of single drive connection, it should be defined as master. Both master and slave drive are allocated onto same I/O area and identified by Drive bit in DRVH register. Host system writes into register on both drives but reads register only from a selected drive. Only the selected drive can execute the command except Diagnose command. Diagnose command is executed on both drives and the result of slave drive is transferred to master drive through PDIAG line. Master drive reports both results to host system. Interface Pin 28 -MASTER/+SLAVE ------------------------------- The interface pin 28 has the same function as Option Jumper J2. Definition of Master/Slave should be done either by this pin or J2. If J2 is plugged for Master, this line does not affect to the definition. This selection is done by Toshiba Specific command. ********************************************************************** I N S T A L L ********************************************************************** TOSHIBA MK1926FCV PRODUCT SPECIFICATION 71Y102779 24/04/1995 Notes on installation ===================== Installation direction ---------------------- TOP SIDE HORIZONTAL PLANE +-----------------+ +--+ +--+ | | | | +-----+ +-----+ | | V | | | | | | | +-+-----------------+-+ | | | | | | +---------------------+ | |---> | |<--- | | | | | | | | | | | | | | +---------------------+ | +-----+ +-----+ | +-+-----------------+-+ +--+ +--+ | ^ | | | | +-----------------+ The drive can be installed in any orientation. Screwing -------- Four screws should be tightened equally with 0.3 mm torque. The depth should be 3.00mm min. 3.5mm max. (Screws 4-M3). Installation ------------ The drive should be mounted carefully on the surface of 1.0mm flatness or less to avoid excessive distortion. And some space should be kept under the PCB to get enough air flow and to avoid any mechanical interference when receiving shock or vibration. It is important to check enough for safe design to prevent short-circuit under any circumstances. Task File Interface Connector ----------------------------- Drive side connector: Yamaichi GAP050K11617 or equivalent Cable ----- Standard diameter: 0.32mm Cable length: 0.46m Grounding --------- HDA (Head Disk Assembly) and DC ground (ground pins on interface) are elelctrically connected each other. ********************************************************************** F E A T U R E S ********************************************************************** TOSHIBA MK1926FCV PRODUCT SPECIFICATION 71Y102779 24/04/1995 General Description ------------------- The MK1926FCV comprises a series of intelligent disk drives, herein- after referred to as the MK1926FCV or simply as the drive. The drive features an ATA-2 embedded controller that requires a simplified adapter board for interfacing to an AT or AT compatible bus. The drives employ Winchester technology and a closed loop servo control system to realize recording density of more than 711kbits/mm and average access time of 13 msec with highest reliability of 300,000 hours for MTTF (Mean Time for Failure). It features smallest and lightest drive with 19mm height half foot- print of market standard 3.5 inch-type micro FDD and 150 grams of weight. The MK1926FCV consists of an HDA (Head Disk Assembly) and a printed circuit board. The HDA is a sealed module and contains a disk spindle assembly, a head actuator assembly and an air filtration system. Reliability is enhanced through the use of Winchester technology. The actuator is a rotary voice coil motor and provides high-speed access. The disk is driven dirctly by a DC spindle motor. Air filtration is provided by means of a high performance air filtration system using both breather and circulation filters. The drive provides a carriage lock mechanism which is activated automatically when power is down, thus preventing head/media damage during non-operating or transportation conditions. The printed circuit board is located externally to the HDA and contains all the electric circuitries necessary to operate the drive except the head drivers. This board contains the power supply and interface signal connectors. Only the head control IC's are located within the HDA. The circuitries perform the following functions: - Read/Write, Task File Control, Spindle Motor Control, Seek and Head Positioning Servo Control and Abnormal Condition Detection.
